Аннотация: There are needs and demands to improve the transport capacity of mining products by rail, to increase the transit transportation, to introduce advanced, high-efficiency and low-cost equipment and technologies and to develop the methodology for early diagnosis of many types of defects and damages which occurs on wagon wheel sets. Today in Mongolia only a few NDT methods, such as magnetic particle testing and ultrasonic testing methods have been used to detect defects and damages of railway wagon components. These methods can detect only visible, formed or developed defects and damages, not latent defects and fatigue, so this common NDT equipment is not satisfactory for today situations. The research focuses on the determination of the factors’ coefficients and physical- mechanical properties which affects mechanical properties of wagon wheel sets and the definition of fatigue and destruction limits on stress concentrated zones by dynamic and static forces and loads. Wagon wheel sets and axles were inspected by the traditional method of NDT and the modern MMM method separately and the inspection results were compared.
